The flickering flame dances with every gust of wind but resolutely burns on....
I visited a farmhouse in India recently. This quiet and unassuming earthen lamp, lit by a cotton wick and some oil provides the sole light when the electricity is out in some homes. The lamp, also forms an important part of worship ceremonies in India.
Eco-friendly and affordable, this traditional lamp has been a companion to many a families through joy (festivals such as Deepavali - festival of lights) as well as sorrow ( a lone lamp kept burning in the room of a person on his/her demise)
