An Island Paradise in Leyte - CANIGAO

Yahoo! The summer is getting near. I know you are all excited especially the students because at last they can rest and could have a vacation again. I know that every summer, every family has a plan on where to went for vacation. That's why I want to share to you again a beautiful place that you may like to visit, where you can choose as your summer destination.

It is Canigao Island, located at Matalom, Leyte, Philippines. Last 2017 summer, this place is one of those we've got visited with my family and friends. What can you expect on this place? I want to share it to you.

When in Canigao you can:

1. Tour around. We tour around this islet, and since it's only an islet, we did not take an hour to tour it. You can see many beautiful things on this islet like rock formations, different plants and trees, different kind of shells, beautiful white sand, birds, and many more. This picture was taken by myself while we had a tour on the islet.

2. Swim as long as you want. Of course, this is exactly what we are doing when we arrived into this kind of places, to jump into the sea, enjoying its beauty and clean water. We really enjoy swimming here! Actually, when we go into sea swimming, usually it really won't take me long to keep swimming, but here, in this place, It took many hours before I get off from water because it brought such good feeling to me. I'm sure, you will enjoy swimming here.

3. Play beach volleyball . There is a beach volleyball court for everyone and if it’s occupied, you can go somewhere where there is enough space. It is advised though that you bring your own ball and equipment just in case.

4. Visit the lighthouse . In the middle of the island, you can see one of the oldest lighthouses in Leyte. In the morning, they allow tourists to climb and have a panoramic view of the whole Eastern Visayas. You can also see the islands of Camotes, Cebu, Cagayan, Limasawa, and more. It’s gorgeous!

5. Watch the majestic sunset. By far, the island offers the best view of the sunset. At 5 in the afternoon, you are advised to find a place, prepare your camera, and wait for the spectacular natural scene.

6. Pitch a tent (P100 – P200 per tent area). Although there are cottages (P500 to P700) and rooms (P1,500) for those who will be staying overnight, it is advised that you try camping, pitching a tent by the shore. Sleeping with the sand as your bed is certainly a must-try for first-timers. You’ll be surprised how comfortable and refreshing it is.

7. Discover and experience the beauty of nature. These pictures were just some of my captured into this island. Well, becoming a traveler is not just about setting foot in a new place and taking selfies, but discovering and experiencing the beauty of nature — the essence of travelling, as they say.

8.Enjoy the beautiful white sand. The sand were very fine here that you'll love walking into it.
