Nikola Tesla - Do you know where his ground remains are? - Photo(s) of the day #20 (and a short story)

There is probably no one who has not heard of Nikola Tesla. Genius scientist who lived at the end of 19th and beginning of 20th century, mostly known for his invention and work on use of alternating current (AC) electricity and person who is consider to be real inventor of the Radio. He is considered to be most gifted inventor in modern history. Many put him next to Galileo, Newton and Copernicus as one of most gifted man ever.

If you search internet, you will find that his grave is at Ferncliff Cemetery, Greenburgh, New York, United States. Some of you maybe visited his grave, maybe you put some flowers there, light a candle... without knowing that grave is actually empty. No it's not conspiracy theory; aliens did not stole his remains, he is not still alive having a good time with Elvis, he is not went back to his home planet in another Galaxy ;)

He is in Serbia! His last wish was to rest there, in his homeland. Yep, he was from Serbia, and his last wish was to be buried there with sounds of song 'Tamo Daleko' (eng: Far Away) , which is considered to be unofficial anthem of Serbia. His resting place is same as his life was: unusual, exceptional and everything but ordinary. His ground remains are sealed into spherical urn, which is displayed in Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade.

Museum is quite small for such a great man, but more than worth visiting. In few rooms you can see some of amazing inventions of Tesla, her a short story about his life, see his death mask and his urn, and be a part of his experiments...

Most spectacular moment of visiting Tesla's Museum is when you become one of exhibits. Part of the museum's setting is working Tesla Transformer. While holding unconnected neon lamp, you will become witness of wireless transmission of electricity or WPT. You will become witness that WPT is not something invented in last few decades. As neon lamp in your hand glow without any wires connected - you become witness that this invention is more than one hundred years old. Quite extraordinary experience.
