A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words? Not Always

I had posted something similar on my original account. They say that men are more visual than women. At least when it comes to other people's appearance. I believe women are visual as well, just in a different way. Certainly aesthetics are important to those who draw, paint, take photos, etc.

There are things I enjoy seeing in my life. My husband & our kitties. Also, sunsets, rainbows, fields of wildflowers. To name a few. As an avid reader & writer, for me, it's more about words. I highly value & appreciate those. I'm past the age of picture books. Unless it's a coffee table book on a particular theme.

For me, I don't need articles to contain pictures. Maybe one at the beginning that fits with the topic. Otherwise, I find them to be more of a distraction. It doesn't necessarily take away from the content (unless there's an abundance of them). I don't feel they usually add to the story either. I suppose, one of the rare exceptions, is if it's a story about an animal. Especially if it involves a rescue.

I mention this, because, the recommendation is (for blogs or sites you can earn from) which state that you should have, at least, one pic. Do they really make a difference? If a person didn't include one, will others shy away from reading it, since, somehow it has less value than an article with a pic or a few? Does it matter to you whether there are visuals accompanying the story?
