Recipe for multi-grain pilaf with flavor blast!

multi-grain-pilaf.jpgServes 5 people and takes about 30-35 minutes from start to ready to eat.

Ingredients


4/5 cups white rice (136 gr)
2/5 cups white quinoa (68 gr)
1/5 cup bulgur (39 gr)
1 table spoon crushed caraway seeds (6 gr)
1 table spoon crushed black seed (6 gr)
3 table spoons cup olive oil (42 gr)
(Optional) 1/5 cup crumbled walnuts

Instructions


Heat the pan and pour the olive oil into it. Wait a minute for it to gain heat. Pour the dry ingredients into the pan and stir. Keep stirring for about 2 minutes or until quinoa starts developing roast-y color.

Add three cups of water (preferably warm) and stir the ingredients for uniform distribution on the pan. Let it cook for 12 minutes in medium heat. Add the crumbled walnuts, if you want to now. Then, lower the heat to a minimum and wait for 8-9 minutes. Last 1-2 minutes, check he bottom of the pan to make sure all liquids have boiled away. Once sure, turn off the heat and cover the pan with a cloth and put the lid on so it rests for 5-10 minutes.

Best to have it with yogurt, beans or your favorite protein and salad to complete the nutritional balance.
