ultimate pinned video side project is live, gotta get two other videos mocked out.

So I’ve been busy working on a little side project for building out the ultimate video of all the things you are up to within the two minutes and twenty seconds of the max allowed time on twitter.

i got fed up of replacing the profile video to different ones so instead i want to pack in more parts and see what i could do with wistia to enhance that further if it was embedded into a website, obviously steem frontends don’t support wistia (wish they did) but i can still use it elsewhere.

My main usage will be as wistia but I’ve uploaded my first one as a twitter video and you can test out the full embed version on the website — I’m planning to do a video for pepo and steem, I need to decide how long to make the sections and what to discuss first.

The main features are the following when using wistia.

  • Chapter support, jump to a section you want to know about fast (could be anything and not just six seconds)
  • Translations - using rev.com I’m translating all the video (remember only 2 minutes, 20 seconds) into different languages with subtitle support
  • Hot links - each section has a jump link in the top right hand corner to where you want people to go
  • Onscreen QR codes — as part of the obs theme i’ve put in QR codes that people can scan instead in some cases (i track these with smarturl.it)

Right now I’m using this to make a two minute, twenty second video with a ten second intro and a ten second outro and multiple six second parts in the middle to make it snappy. i created an obs theme so i could get the timing right and i use a tray bar app to time each section i want to record in obs.

I’m using screenflow to then bolt them all together, add a soundtrack and then i can upload that to wistia — this makes the process speedy. Another great thing is if i want to update or improve a section i can just jump into the screenflow, replace the clip, re-encode and then swap it out on wistia without losing any stats or any customisations I’ve made.

So what’s the benefit of all this? Well, mainly attention, if I’ve got someone for two minutes and twenty seconds and i can get them to watch for the whole thing i can share a lot of things in that time — time is money, time is precious, people wanna know the thing, get in and get out.

I think a lot of twitter accounts/profiles could use this in some way, maybe we can make a super fast video about a bunch of blockchain features, hot links to a variety of new links to projects, team profiles, a digital newsletter of some sort, instead of one piece of media, it can be multiple, with multiple call outs.

I’d love to work together with twitter users on this or they can download my obs template layout and work from there on their own — i think i want to make the template into a pack with styles, layouts, icons etc.

@dayleeo also suggested that i should maybe change it slightly to also offer this for instagram story users as well, what do you think?

Another benefit of the ‘pinned’ post means that it’s always at the top of @steempeak as well, so you could build a post out with a Youtube version embedded with links to the wistia version on a landing page with more long form information.

this is certainly my plan for all my steem accounts in 2020 — do all the sign posting in the first pinned post and then just work on the end targets, anyone falling on those accounts will hopefully go to the other sites.

More than anything, i wanted something that i could adapt and change instead of worrying that i was putting out the wrong pinned video at the wrong time or forgetting about updating it — instead, why not just make the most condensed version of the ultimate pinned video, it’s like an elevator pitch but in video timed to the second!

I’m pretty pleased with it — if your interested in working together to make one for you or wanna grab my obs template check out the url and the embed all together.
