Spotted deer roam in the forest at Nijhum Deep in Noakhali district of Bangladesh. Nijhum Deep, a cluster of islands (mainly, Ballar Char, Kamlar char, Char Osman and Char Muri, with a total landmass of about 14050 acres) emerged in the early 1950s as an alluvium in the shallow estuary of the Bay of Bengal on the south of Noakhali. The forest department of the government of Bangladesh created mangrove forests in Nijhum Deep and the main attraction in these forests is the herd of about 20,000 spotted deer. The most important type of tree planted in the island is Keora, also known as Kerfa, which has fast growing roots holding the sandy land. In 2001, the government of Bangladesh declared Nijhum Deep forests as National Park. Nijhum Ddeep.jpgeep, Noakhali, Bangladesh

Nijhum Deep is a small island under Hatiya upazila. in Noakhali District in Bangladesh.

This island is an ideal place for tourists, specially during the winter.

There are several low facilitated restaurants available at the island for villagers. You can have your dinner and lunch there if you want. Otherwise you have to cook yourself !
