Plane Spotting
Last night I spent a few hours at the airfield Zell near Neuburg. In the best company of enthusiasts of the Plane Spotting Hobby we waited for the landing of the trainer, who had previously started. On an app we could explore that it had flown in the direction of Augsburg and therefore had to come back. It's amazing how exactly the fans know everything. Not only the ID of the plane but also the flight time was quickly determined and the waiting began.
Gestern Abend verbrachte ich ein paar Stunden am Flugplatz Zell bei Neuburg. In bester Gesellschaft von Enthusiasten des Plane Spotting Hobbys warteten wir auf die Landung des Trainers, der zuvor aufgestiegen war. Auf einer App konnten wir erkunden dass er in Richtung Augsburg geflogen war und daher zurückkommen musste. Es ist schon erstaunlich wie genau die Fans Bescheid wissen. Nicht nur die Kennung des Fliegers sondern auch die Flugdauer war schnell ausgemacht und das Warten begann.
Touch and go
Then, finally, just before 7.30pm, it flew over the terrain at high altitude to make a first landing approach. The student pilot had to perform a so-called "touch and go" maneuver and I was able to capture it beautifully in the picture. With 24 seconds exposure time, the white position light and the red beacon are easy to spot.
Dann, endlich kurz vor 19.30 Uhr überflog er dann das Gelände in großer Höhe um anschließend einen ersten Landeanflug zu machen. Der Flugschüler musste ein sogenanntes "Touch and Go" Manöver ausführen und ich konnte es wunderbar im Bild festhalten. Mit 24 Sekunden Belichtungszeit ist das weisse Positionslicht sowie die rote Leuchtfeuer gut zu erkennen.
Landing
After a long lap, called a pattern, with four 90 degree turns, it came in to land. People really drive 100 km to look at it. A night flying exercise was planned, which was canceled due to an approaching thunderstorm. For next week 9 airmen from Italy are announced, who will practice a week here. It's going to be a spectacle and there will be about 50 spotters who will talk about this and that for hours and spend a nice time at the fence.
Nach einer weiten Runde, als Pattern bezeichnet, mit vier 90 Grad Kurven kam er dann zur Landung herein. Da fahren Leute wirklich 100 km um sich das anzusehen. Geplant war ja eine Nachtflugübung, die aber aufgrund eines herannahenden Gewitters abgesagt wurde. Für nächste Woche sind 9 Flieger aus Italien angesagt, die eine Woche hier üben werden. Das wird ein Spektakel und es werden etwa 50 Spotter erwartet die sich dann stundenlang über dies und das austauschen und eine schöne Zeit am Zaun verbringen werden.
