Playing backwards reminded me of a nice little feature on my old Kurzweil PC88 Stage Piano Midi Master Controller. You can reverse the direction of the keyboard scale (higher pitch left, lower pitch right). That made for an interesting addition to an old composition where the left hand is now playing in the higher registered melodic realm the right hand the lower.
