Hey JessContent Creators
In today's independent content creator world, I think we all have to accept that Joe Rogan has got it right, he's got one of the biggest podcasts in the world with hundreds of millions of downloads each month. He's got a massive social media following on Twitter, Instagram and YouTube and his been churning out content for 11 years now. His show has captivated audiences from around the world and a demographic that is intelligent and high in LSM, so basically many advertisers flock to pay for plugs on his show.
He makes a fair bit of money on YouTube and naturally syndication of his podcast as well as the other things he's done like sports commentary and stand up comedy. The dude uses his platform to make money and it looks like he really enjoys it and its not about the money....or is it?

The 100 million dollar man
Joe has just signed a deal with Spotify which will exclusively host all his content and even MAKE HIM a video streaming option on their platform, we don't know the length of the licencing deal but it's worth $100 000 million.
To put it into perspective a musician would need to generate 23 billion streams on Spotify to earn what they're paying Joe Rogan for his podcast rights.
The real kicker is he will be purging YouTube of his content and hosting it only with Spotify which really sets a precedent with so many content creators and Joe himself comparing about YouTube, here he does something about it, someone, with one of the most active audiences on the platform.
Creators are going to start to wake up and go where they are treated best and I think this deal is going to be a catalyst for many creators to take their audiences and move away from YouTube.
Why $100 million is worth it?
Since the news has broke this week Spotify share price has moved up from $148 to $189 netting the company a cool $5 billion in market cap. So to answer my question in this post, it looks like one creator can be worth Billions.
Yes, Joe is an outlier and his on top of his game but it shows the power of creating an audience through various channels and bringing them to a certain platform.
For something like HIVE they will need to start from the bottom up, slowly building an audience by bringing in individuals who bring in individuals. As the momentum grows you find it brings creators with an audience and over time, grows the market cap of the economy.
I think its a lesson to be learned and I think that blockchain products in social media will take quite some time to catch up, the network effects are slow and without real marketing and growth strategies backing it and relying on organic attraction, it's going to take some time that allows other platforms to catch up.

Have your say
What do you good people of HIVE think? Do you think this will open up more exclusive deals and content creator deals?

Yeah and stop giving in to a certain platform, id actually like to see more movement of creators and driving more decentralisation
