THE BURDEN - poem

in poem •  8 years ago

 The burden is crushing you,
by inches your desperation grows,
it´s getting unbearable,
you´d do anything to let it go.

You sweet-talk, then promise blood and vengeance instead,
you swear allegiance to both god and devil,
you are ready to do anything,
just to relieve the burden.

And then, when your bones are finally powdered,
and your flesh grinded to a pudding,
then - finally,
the burden is lifted from your shoulders.

You rise from the pudding of your yesterday´s self,
- the victim of youth and inexperience -
screaming with joy: "Now I see!".
