The Meaning of Green

What does it mean
A beautiful thing?
A bandwidth of light?
A spectrum that's seen?

But why not blue?
It colors the sky
and waves on the ocean
With many a hue

And Yellow some say
On flowers and fruit
The color of the star
That lights up our day

But hearts soon melt
From winter's last thaw
When leaves cast shadows
And soft grass is felt

So what does it mean
This light we call green
Can Science please tell
Our heart's what we've seen?
