This is my response to the "Blockchain Poet" theme for the week; "Love and Lust".
She thought it was love when the only thing he ever talked about was her beauty
I spoke more in terms of her smartness and of course, her beauty
Love runs skin deep and isn't superficial
I waited for her to understand this, I want it all natural
It took him breaking up with her for her to know it wasn't love
Love isn't in what you can see only but in what you see that others can't see
I only wanted to hold her hands and show her what it means to feel loved
Lust speaks only of the physical attributes
Most people only see what makes their hearts leap
What I saw in her was great potential complemented by her beauty
That beauty is a plus but who she is, that's the person I fell in love with
Oh! Her beauty might change with a few wrinkles down the years
Love is what would make your feelings stay the same amidst the tears
Love goes deeper but lust is influenced mostly by what we can see
The true test comes when there is an altar to the things we see
I see you perfectly for who you are and who you can be
I love the span of your hips and the curl of your lips
But most importantly, I love the way you smile and the kindness of your heart
Don't get me started on your smartness and the way the wind plays with your hair
I could speak of how you dress so simple yet so exquisite
I can speak of the way your voice sounds in my ears that bends me to your will
You hold me without chains and everything about you dazzles
I love you for who you are and not just how perfect you can look
I want to love you through the good looks and the not-so-perfect ones
Cheers.
