Also A Human

I bet you're laughing when I'm down
I'm crying but you see me as a clown
I did seek help like a pitiful lamb
But you walk through me like I'm just a jamb

Yes, I'm maybe a beggar in the street
Receiving alms and waiting for a treat
A homeless person that can't find a job
Did find a door but can't reach the knob

Can you regard me as a human?
I can be better, of course I can!
Instead of helping me up, you're keeping me down
As I'm struggling to get up, you glared with frown

Of course! I do need some money!
But all I really need is a better company
Who doesn't push me in the cliff too hard
And won't end up putting me in a ward

I know that a man who shows me his wealth is like the beggar who shows me his poverty; they are both looking for alms from me, the rich man for the alms of my envy, the poor man for the alms of my guilt.
