Good Friday

Why do they call this special day good?
The religious leaders didn’t act as they should.
They sent people out lying and spying,
To hang our Savior on the cross dying.

They beat Him and whips tore His back,
The wickedness they did not lack.
The bloodiness made them proud,
When they handed Jesus to the crowd.

The crown of thorns upon His head,
All the accusations that were said.
The nails that penetrated His hands and feet,
Carrying the old rugged cross made Him beat.

The many insults hurled to His face,
Were all false and a big disgrace.
He stood there gentle as a lamb,
The King of Kings and the great I AM.

The reason that we call it good,
Is that Jesus told His dad He would.
His life He willingly gave as a sacrifice,
While dying, the soldiers threw their dice.

This was only part of His plan,
On Sunday the enemy hid and ran.
When he saw the stone roll away,
And the angel said, “He is risen today”.

Thank you for the words!
It is Good because:

  • "It is finished"
  • This happened so that the words he had spoken would be fulfilled: "I have not lost one of those you gave me."

Appreciate your kind words. Blessings to you.
