<<渴望之書>>裡的這首詩 Never Mind 講述的是戰爭，柯恩後來也將這首詩重新改寫成一首歌，歌的名字叫Nevermind, 把對戰爭的批判寫得更清楚了一些。 但詩總還是更美的，因為有大量的留白。就像他在這首詩裡寫的：I could not kill/ The way you kill/ I could not hate/ I tried I failed, 沒有流露情緒，沒有大聲的指責和批判，想表達的卻清楚又強烈地全被讀出來了，看似疏離安靜但其實力量強大，感覺很美。
