Prisoner Of Life

I sat alone in a dark corner,
Head in my hands, Knees against my chest.
Tears running from my eyes to the floor.
Happiness left my soul, now so cold and dark.

Life in my eyes can no longer be seen.
If only I could be free from these cuffs and chains.
And once again run far from my thoughts.
I am a prisoner of life, a lifer.
Contaminated by this conflict.
With death hovering around me.

Anger was in my blood.
Black tears running down my cheek.
Revenge was all I could think about.
One day, these chains will break.

You're all I seek.
I'll move slowly like a snake.
I will smother once you sleep.
Look at me now and try to read my heart.
All my joy and love is gone forever.
You shouldn't have locked me away just like that.

Thoughts of me thinking I was once your little girl.
Now you've made me angry and sick.
This is my soul being freed.
Grabbed the knife you tried
But unlike you, I won't fail.

You gave a surprising look.
Aren't you happy now?
During your last breathe
I took the keys.
I am finally free.
