mountains and roads

in poem •  5 years ago

Together,
walking under the noetic stars,
fields are busy being fields,
and the years
stand by the
brown of a bay,
following as they must,
hoping the the last of April's cold
might confide in us,

As the moonlight makes its rounds
and scatters the last of day,
We know that summer is
razor sharp in the sands,
I watched territories of the fields
fall to the maturing light
one by one,
down by the dunes,
the millrace,
and the salamander run,
the fire flies postulate,
beside a river so deep,
before its dark kinsman
vanish in the ripples
what was left of ours to keep,

Grief unlike love
finds its way without
desire, an uprooted tree,
A hope beside a ruin,
a vacated lover whose words
have been lost by
some other,
fireside or moon-side stars,
that hold no transit,
will not come or go,
mountains and roads
climbing higher,
like passion revenging a wrong
that once came to inspire.

Mountainous Landscape by Moonlight 1871 Albert Bierstadt

Very nice! This is definitely my favorite part.
the fire flies postulate,
beside a river so deep,
before its dark kinsman
vanish in the ripples
what was left of ours to keep,

Very well written. Thanks for sharing!

Great
