Buried Treasure.

in poem •  5 years ago

He was my mate for the longest while.
Stood by my side, widest smile.
Death reached out and took him away.
Buried under uncaring earth, on your way.

Don't worry boy, I'll be there soon.

Since then, nothings been the same.
Every moment so grey, lackluster.
Jumping at shadows, the gun clicks.
Just another blank, nothing to fear.

Nothing to fear just like him.

I patted that soil down with my bare hands.
Knelt over you for the final embrace.
What bitter tears, what twisted fate.
To lose a mans best friend.

Nothing but animals left on the top.

Time to go hunting for more treasure.

Strange, how hard it is to walk alone.
Maybe time this good old boy..
Laid down.
