A Poem for the Lover of Poems

in poem •  8 years ago  (edited)

Have you ever lost your best friend? It's like cutting your organs out one by one. Each time you hear their voice it's one more cut into your pale flesh each time they smile at their new obsession it's one more yank on your organs. Each concerned "what's wrong" not pointed in your direction is a reminder that you are no longer important. You are the teddy bear they threw in their closet when they outgrew being afraid of the dark. Each forgotten memory is a pool of blood contrasting the white of your everlasting tears that stream down your face as you tell yourself you will be alright. Each picture on your wall is a constant reminder of the hole in your insides making you double over in pain crying begging for this torture to end but as your crystal color eyes open you just see the reminder that you will never be important to them again. You are the teddy bear locked in the closet begging to be free but only collect dust and forgotten memories.
