past the diamonds in your eyes or push
beyond the debonair greeting you proffer
as I stumble into your corner of the night.
Perhaps, by rote my astral promenade
leads me straight to you time after time;
or conceivably, the delicious sensation
that engulfs my soul the moment you collect
my trembling hand in yours is ample reason
to allow the same fate to befall me invariably.
A delightful onslaught of syllables in dulcet,
baritone waves bewitches my eager ears.
With diligent effort to maintain the advantage,
I unleash my own collective of gentle, sparring
words laced with vigor and what is certain
to be questionable elocution.
It proves quite comical to duel with you
in a language that I do not fully comprehend;
and the enticing sound of your laugh
spills over the imaginary line we have drawn,
hailing a truce for tonight, as the star to your left
winks to applaud our celestial display.

This is a great poem... words were well chosen and it certainly captivates the imagination. I have written a few poems in the past. Makes wonder whether I should try my mind at poetry again.
