It all ends in misery

in poet •  8 years ago

I've traveled this land for a quarter century.
cut through hillsides and memories.
I've lost love,
I've found misery.
I've hidden from myself.
I've stowed away from others.
I've heard the widows cries.
I've befriended strangers.
and have forsaken love.
At all cost, I've cost myself.
I challenged the world,
and it answered.
I fought to keep my pride,
The world said that wasn't enough.
I fought to keep my ego,
The world said that wasn't enough.
I struggled to keep my wits,
The world smiled,
I fought to keep my balance,
the world smiled,
I wanted the upper hand
So i Cried,
The world simply laughed.
When i knew i was beat,
I fought and then I fought some more.
I used the memory of you,
and I struggled to keep you by my side.
The world nodded.
It admitted defeat.
and When I rested my eyes,
with you by my side,
I awoke just in time,
to see you in love with the world.
