Addiction of Choice (Original)

in poetry •  8 years ago

Maybe your drug comes in a clear brown bottle, maybe its leafy and green. Some prefer white lines balancing on their own reflection, or maybe a bulbous glass filled two thirds of red. I've seen the mind altercations that arise from the addiction to the flesh and addictions to simple pixels dancing on screens.

My drug is black, small and stamped a million times on sheets of a soft tinged yellow with a smell that describes the vastness of everything that has ever been or could ever be. A universe that is, but paradoxically, is not. The thoughts of one, like you or me, plucked from their ever expansive yet limited mind and forever carved across the shelves of time. My simple escape from the madness of everyday life, the same as yours. Something to help me get away if only for a moment in time.
