Many people like to fancy themselves as an atheist or agnostic, I guess they think that is the cool response. But I can not say that I believe the majority of those 'neyh' sayers.
The simple truth is that to an ant, I am probably considered a demi god (of course I am not claiming any sort of divinity) but lets look at the facts; I can lift about 1 million times the amount of most ants and my walking speed must seem to be as quick as a bolt of lightning according to an ant.
So if I was an ant and it was common knowledge that humans exist, then I would roll my eyes when another ant claimed that there was definitely 'no god and/or gods'
Lets look at the definition of god according to the dictionary.
god noun
Definition of god
1 capitalized : the supreme or ultimate reality: such as
a : the Being perfect in power, wisdom, and goodness who is worshiped as creator and ruler of the universe
b Christian Science : the incorporeal divine Principle ruling over all as eternal Spirit : infinite Mind
2 : a being or object believed to have more than natural attributes and powers and to require human worship specifically : one controlling a particular aspect or part of reality Greek gods of love and war
3 : a person or thing of supreme value had photos of baseball's gods pinned to his bedroom wall
4 : a powerful ruler Hollywood gods that control our movies' fates
It seems that that many people's intelligence only goes as far as the first entry. Currently I realize that I am not the strongest human being, nor am I the fastest. I am not claiming that other beings are 'my god' but its small minded for any person to claim that nothing exists that is more powerful than themselves.
What I am saying is not a new thought, if you visit a communist country that country does not claim that there is absolutely no god (in words they might) but if you look at there actions they are saying that the state is god (the state is the ultimate authority)
Where I think that many people stand:
Christian deism is a standpoint in the philosophy of religion, which branches from Christianity. It refers to a deist who believes in the moral teachings—but not divinity—of Jesus. ... John Locke and John Tillotson, especially, inspired Christian deism, through their respective writings.
(I am not claiming that a christian deist will go to heaven when they die, in fact I am blatantly saying that anyone that does not trust in the LORDship of JESUS CHRIST will end up in hell!)
John 14:6
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
I sometimes enjoy breaking words apart and looking at what they actually mean. And the word anarchy just means that there 'is no declared leader'. And on this election day we are reminded that different groups of people would like different leadership styles, and some people would like to see 'no declared leader'. There is only one instance that an anarchy will work. For an anarchy to function everybody needs to be of one heart and mind.
Which again points to the fact that many Americans are Christian deists. A deist believes that a god (or thing called god) created the world, but then removed itself from creation. But a Christian deist is a deist that has roots in Christianity. Do you believe that it is generally wrong to steal from people? I assume that your answer is yes. Do you believe that it is generally wrong to murder people? A number of people do not seem to have much issue with telling lies, but a number of people have issue with going to a court room and lying while they are under oath. At the roots these are just three Christian teachings that most people have there roots in.
I suspect that on a number of days I am around individuals that are caring weapons and on most days I have absolutely no safety concern, but that is because most individuals respect life. In most situations (but not all) I would feel relatively comfortable laying my wallet down and walking away, and when I returned I would expect that someone did not rob me. When people have Christian morals installed into them, I am ok with a measure of self governance (anarchy) But only a crazy person would feel secure walking into a den of murders and thieves.
