"This Weather" - A Poem

in poetry •  7 years ago

Wilting
Melting
In oppressive heat
Fans can't compete
Wishing and wishing
For air conditioning
Puddles of sweat
Increasing regret
I'd trade tropical paradise
For a home made of ice...

I know, the grass is always greener etc etc. But right now it's too hot for me to function and living in the Caribbean doesn't feel like much of a blessing. I feel bad for all the Siberian Huskies people have been importing around here (they can't possibly be enjoying these temperatures).

You and me both. We're having an unprecedented hot dry spell in Ireland for the last 2 months. The Emerald Isle in green no more but a brownish shade of burnt.

The thing is, I thought I was used to hot temperatures. I even thought I liked them! But this is not how it was before (and not just where I live). I just don't think "The Brownish Burnt Isle" has the same ring to it...

love this part "wishing and wishing"

Thanks @erikyoussif
