Great work @bhmcintosh.
The story/poem draws upon the reader's imagination and sentiment towards fragile and naive creatures. It is difficult not to think of the similarities these puppies have with the innocents in our world - waiting for a helping hand that might never arrive. The seemingly hopeless sacrifice and insurmountable circumstances push that boundary, and the reader is drawn into the puppies plight. Finally, the sudden last-minute arrival of the savior completes the cycle by uplifting the spirits of the reader.
