War

in poetry •  7 years ago

My war does not start
And end on the front lines
It is much deeper than that
A never ending bombardment
From each direction
Never ceasing nor relenting
For some this may seem
A much more daunting task
Then I see it being each day
I almost enjoy the constant
Onslaught and competition
For it has molded me
Good in some ways and bad in others
But each serving a purpose
Teaching and pushing into action
Rather than delaying
Forcing constant strides
Defeats come just as often
As the victories do
This fact does not deter me
But makes me reach further
And harder than ever before
Never reaching satisfaction
But constantly pushing its limits
To achieve the unattainable
It is a war I wage
Within myself each and every day
With each and every breathe
It does not end
It is up to me and me only to win this
I am not afraid
