Papa Smiles & He Knows He's Done Right

In his smile there's a loving delight

Papa smiles and he knows he's done right

The years are short and the nights so long

He wakes and forgets

What it was he did wrong

And new days come round

As they tend to do

But Papa's smile remains

Like a love that is old

It's a gift meant for you

In his frown there's a fear

That lasts through the weeks

You can see through the doubt

But hope will win out

And the smiles return

When Papa's smile comes back

You can feel the weight lift

But it's the love in his eyes

Cause he knows he's done right

That lifts up the world & sets it alight

It couldn't last long

He knew it, he felt it was so

The sadness he hides

He still can't let go

But darkness subsides and gives up the fight

Then Papa smiles, and he knows he's done right

This is really sweet and at the same time beautiful in a more serious way.

Amazing!

Thanks @isa93. :)

This poetry is very well structured although I know nothing about poetry in the first place. Well done it was definitely worth my while inalittlewhile. 😁. Get it?

Haha @amarbir. I don't really know anything about poetry either. I should probably read up. I know hycoos from school, but can't remember the form. It just kinda comes out. :)

Ooh I see. 🍌.

Enjoyed i did.

Thank you. I appreciate the feedback. :)

Wow very impressive poem upVoting

Thank you. :)

Ohhh I just got goose bumps!! Love it!! Is that you and your beautiful son??

Oh no @steemsausage. That's from Pixabay. I don't have any so perfectly photographed. Lol. :)

Sorry dude - poetry isn't my forte. Truth be told I really, really suck at it. As soon as I see a poem my eyes glaze over and I can't think. Haha. I did come here to upvote you and show you some support though because you've been so good to me :)

Lol @raymondspeaks. That's pretty much the same affect I was going for had you been able to read and comprehend the poem anyway.

Haha. Just joking. I'll probably feel the same way if I go back and try to read some of my own poetry. It's kinda how I was feeling that day.

Thanks for your support. You know you got more of mine coming. :)

Well written. I think I'll call my dad now. Lol

Haha. Hey, you caught the other part of the poem that is only insinuated. :)

Thanks!!

That such a lovely poem, thought-provoking!

Thank you @kimmiecfields :)

This brought tears to my eyes. Wonderful poem. I've watched my husband struggle at times over the years, wondering if he was doing the 'dad' thing "right" and you captured this so wonderfully.

Great post!
