We take all the painful memories,
The shameful things
We’ve done or have been done to us,
Lies we’ve told or were told and
We shove them down a hole, into a
Dark and dismal place.
A drain for our spirits,
An "Oubliette" of forgetfulness.
But unlike a
Drain,
Where the refuse is taken away, ours
Tends to fester and stink.
Lying there forgotten, those pinpoints of shame
Keep nagging you, prompting you
To do something, but you don’t
Know what, because you’ve
Forgotten them.
You’ve hidden them away because you don’t
Want to face them.
Pain is
A useful thing; it tells us
Of something that
Needs healing
Attention.
Deal with It.
Heal It.
