MY AFRICA

Africa... Oh my Africa!
The victim of circumstances,
The giant tree that's being gently hewn down,
Retrogressing as the clock ticks away,
Falling deepling into a developmental slumber,
Long ago begun this freefall into oblivion,
White homosapiens with symbolic straws;
Draining our valuable resources,
Trampling under feet our culture,
Abducting our children to unknown destination,
Labeling us as they did homo erectuses,
Racism deep seated in their osteocytes.
Treating us as they willed-
Preferring even pets to us.
I know we can rise again
We know our rights,
We're beautiful,
United we are.
Africans we are!
