Distant

I want to be two people at once. One runs away.

Without you,
I’m lost
A raindrop on the wind;

I’m so afraid, Love,
And so tired of running.

It’s hard listening
to my soul
Praying
And getting nowhere,

I don't know why
We aren't close—

Our ghosts
Tell each other stories.

...And I don't know why
You’re out there in the night

In despair
And hiding,

On a street
I no longer go,
For fear you will find me.

Helloooo...it's been a while since I disappeared. I'm back again, and can't wait to be entertained by your poetry once again

Thank you - welcome back :)

Are all your poems like this? Skeleton poems (or you would call them minimalistic?). I'm not implying a criticism, I am just asking. I like your poems and I'm impressed by the way one or two words from you can slip beneath my defences...sort of like a stilleto jab.

Yes, they're mainly minimalistic - I'd settle for nouns and verbs - hate polysyllabics and prefer anglo saxon mono or disyllabics - will drop articles at times too . I believe prose works on the level of the sentence and poetry at the level of the word. So yeah, there's a method in there somewhere, Arthur :)

Life's like that sometimes, often incomprehensible and sad..........
sometimes glad too.
You hit the spot John.

Thank you, @justjoy - nice to hear from you
