Nighttide

ITide and Time.jpg

I touch sun-warm skin

Inhale once again
The scent of tanning lotion,

These lying dreams reprise
Summer clouds and skies

Now that we are broken.

Nothing can be done
To bring back what is gone

Or change words we've spoken,

Dreams turn to dust
As this love poem must

Be claimed by the ocean.

Nothing else remains
Not guilt, revenge or blame

Devoid of all emotion,

The sea takes the land
Erasing all my plans

In one mighty motion.
