Calling On The Dead…

Believing your days
are numbered
you no longer have a future
the hope
you once held close
just a memory of the past
dreams once dreamt
slip slowly from your grasp
as the sun
fades into the horizon
one last time
never to be seen again

the will to live
begins to evaporate
with the passage of time
showing no signs
of empathy or compassion
the breathe
shallow and light
as if it knows
the end is near
quietly easing its way
into the ether

laughing and crying
all at
the same time
all feeling and emotion
blending into one
memories of your love
dissolve
into the dew
becoming
part of the earth
the air that
rises
beyond this world

Calling on the dead
to show you
the way
to ease the restless mind
of the scared, panicked
child inside
still afraid of the unknown
reaching out for help
before the darkness
engulfs your soul.
