Blame gravity

in poetry •  7 years ago

There I was,
with my 42 grams soul
and finger biting habit.

You?
You couldn't decide
whether respect should be used as a synonym
of acceptance or admiration.

Freaky, saving, loving, who cares.
Blame gravity.

There you were,
revolving around me
as though you were trying to intimidate
the tango dancing butterflies in my stomach.

Me?
I did all I could to make sure
I did not fall in love with you.
Blame gravity.
