Depth

in poetry •  4 hours ago

Deep in the depths of solitude, underneath the whims of whales casting shadows upon us. Rays of light fade behind their semi ethereal presence. A cry of sadness rings through the seas, though there be many whales, only one could make this plea. Plea to the depths to bring them what it is they are yearning for.

As they sing their lonely plea to the seas and travel the depths of their desire, they only see the open sea in front of them, while the light above shines with crystalline radiance, glistening off the sea surface above, and the deepest depths hold the mysteries of the sea, in true form.

Lonely is the one, who looks only in front, but never weighs the world's truths. Unheard are the cries of those who are too afraid to seek out the new path. Free are those who remain in their darkness, never ending in their desires to stay hidden, but provide their own bioluminescence as to attract what they desire.

Are we the whale or the ones beneath the depths looking up? Are we lonely? Crying out into the void, heard by all and seen by no one? Or are we hiding in the deep, seen by only those we wish to attract, and heard only by those who need to hear us?
