Introducing Mia Gypsy poetry

If music makes life bearable then poetry makes it beautiful. I've been writing poetry since I was a little girl. I love it all: limericks, haiku, sonnets, ballads, rap, beat, freeform.

Myself, I write mostly lovelorn suburban longings in freeform, although I have moved from the bright city to the wild and free northern rivers of New South Wales. I’m in a small country town rather than an inner-city suburb.

I’m not much of a photographer or visual artist but I try to use all my own work and I’m getting better.

Here is a poem, Afternoon Prayer, that I wrote when I had a "second lease on life" as is said.

afternoon prayer

O’, diminishing light

cast not your shadows on me.

Long will I sit here and long will I stay,
praying Fortune let go her grip as

peace, love and strength begin to whisper in gentle sea waves through God’s troubled daughter,

stumbling over her muddied skirts as she fades with the fog

skips with the birds

across oceans of moors she’s never even seen yet knows so well in her heart.

Whispering songs dancing with these trees

singing this sun to sleep

knowing you’ll be back tomorrow

save your tears for another day.
