Anxiety

in poetry •  7 years ago  (edited)

Silence falls
A wave of pain
Settles deep into the bones
Like a winter cold
Burrowing through layers of flesh
A permeating wave that lays first
As a blanket on your chest

The benzodiazepines and alcohol
Used to depress
Can’t suppress
The depression that they fight
A paradox

Friends and family
A gentle distraction
Yet reminders
Of the absence now faced
Solitude or companionship
No comfort in either

Going through the motions
Everything in motion
No foundation
Just a broken slate
Upon which
Anything can be written

that's an accurate depiction. And i like that you didn't use any cutesy photos. let the words speak for themselves

Taylorzurp, thank you. All of my poetry is written in the moment and never scripted. I let the words come to me and write them down. No photo could ever do the words justice. If you like this poem, please browse my others as I am uploading them now. Thanks again!

Beautifully written. The final two words really provide hope in words that were at times difficult to read - 'Upon which
Anything can be written'

It's never too later to change direction, make a change, change the narrative of our story.

Thanks for sharing
