We Are Just Borrowers / Life Is For Rent Only

We live temporarily in this physical realm
Our bodies break down, get old, disintegrate, and die
We can’t keep the material goods we acquire in life
So don’t buy into it

Favourite objects, best clothes, family photographs
In the end, you’ll lose it all
It doesn’t really matter whether you have a mansion or a car
Whether you’re rich or poor
Your body will die

Yet inequalities bother me
Why wasn’t I given an equally easy start? Like some others?
Why do I always need to work so hard?
But I know it could have been worse
So I stay grateful
And appreciate the good things I have in life

I know after all we are all equal
Whether you have a big house with twenty rooms
You can only take up so much space at any one time
And you are temporary just like me
Anyhow

So I don’t really care that I wasn’t born rich
And that for everything in life I have to fight
Because at least I learnt what it means
To not be given anything for free
And I don’t take things for granted
And value the little things
And find meaning not only in the outer shine

Don’t buy into consumerism
Live your life on your own terms
According to your personality and style
And remember the only thing that matters
In this evanescent life
Is kindness and love

Because tomorrow may never come
So don’t put achievements on a pedestal
It’s all a social construct
Careers are just artificial designs
Focus on who you are inside

Be true, be honest, be kind
Because once you depart from this life
The only thing you might be able to keep
Is your soul, on the other side

We are all borrowers
The objects are not ours to keep
So let go of everything that holds you back
And ties you down
This is all a playground

A fleeting moment on the move
Transitory as our time
Lasting as long as a breath maybe
Or a blink of an eye
We are all just tenants
Down here on borrowed time
Renting our bodies
And renting this life

Indeed, we are just borrowers... Because in the end no matter what status or things we've acquired. We'll leave everything!!

Yes exactly :) Thank you for your comment! :)
