The Race

Preparing for the next phase,
The next leg in the rat race,
Tomorrow's bursting promise,
Of a new and renewed sense of life.

She bends and flexes,
Muscles tired and taught,
Worn from today's travails,
Obstacles overcome but not forgotten.

She'll make it,
I know it.
All her fears notwithstanding,
She'll sprint through,
Scarred, but untouched.
