Justice (Poetry)

Justice

I bathe in the tears of an angel;
his feathers, plucked,
to dry out my body.

His spine caves in ,
he falls to the floor;
quivering lips
kiss my muddy boots,
pleading mercy.
I kick him aside
and wipe my feet
on cracked ribs.

The walls echo my breathing;
eerie voices whisper in my ears,
luring me to a candle’s flame.

My wobbly knees collapse,
kneeling towards marble idols;
hands nailed to the ground,
skin bleeding into gravel.

Hot temper and cold glares.
The air reeks of might;
my bones shiver: chilled, terrified.

Crush me in your marble fists,
turn me into dust -
I deserve to be nothing more
than the ground on which you trample.

This poem received heavy feedback and editing by @damianjayclay from @thewritersblock. I had also received early feedback on a much earlier version by @whoshim from the @isleofwrite. I suggest any of you who seek to improve your poetry to check out both these groups and their workshops (links in the images below).

My new poetry collection, Welcome to the Sombre Days, will be published on Amazon on the 9th of March. Each day, I am sharing another poem from the book on Steemit. Here are the available parts so far:

great friend, powerful phrases

I feel like it must have been a much earlier version, because I didn't recall anything until the last stanza, which brought some memories of it back. :D That is a powerful ending.

It was more than a week ago, and you did like the ending but asked for a longer story, so I buffed it up and worked on it ;)
