Nature's Sweater (Poem)

in poetry •  7 years ago

The temperature outside
took a chilly winter dip.
The land had nowhere to hide
from winter's strong, freezing grip.

No mosquito was around
to pester, bite, or infect.
Dormant sat the garden ground
for winter birds to inspect.

Their glad chirps broke the silence
of nature's frigid landscape.
They gladly held song license
and let the refrain escape.

The berries of the hollies
tempted them to come to lunch.
These fruits became their volleys
upon which they gladly munch.

Strong, green pine branches welcome
them in for warmth and shelter.
They cling to the boughs like gum
thankful for nature's sweater.

The End.

Beautiful and vivid piece. I could see the red of the berries against white winter snow. Cheers!

Thank you! :-)
