She Wears Red

woman-2629327_1280 (1).jpg

she wears red
so sultry, so enticing
so capable of
                   enflaming
a man’s passion
she burns red

wiles, machinations
playing coy
tossed ringlets
shiny coils
             of intoxicant

she wears red
a canvas
for others to paint
preconceptions
indulge in judgement
cast aspersions

she wears red
for strength
endurance
and bravery

she wears red
fearlessly

Thank you, Habibur:)

Sizzling imagery in these words. Potent write. :)

Thank you, mamadini:)

The association of the red woman-rose, the geisha and the tunnel makes the perfect parallel to your poem: enticing, inviting. Genius! Thanks for sharing, @prydefoltz.
Love the topic, besides.

Thank you, Marlyn. I originally a had a picture of a geisha but I chose not use it:)

Red sure is vibrant and also announces that it is not to be taken lightly. A wonderful creation, my dear

Thank you, Sayee:)

Great poem. I’ve always felt there was a bit of fearlessness in wearing red. There really is a sense of empowerment and bravery in donning red and daring the world to judge.

Thank you, Denise. I always just loved the color and felt good in it. It was only when others confessed their preconception was I aware of the judgement people could attach to something as otherwise innocuous as natural color. Red will always be favorite color but these days I seem to be more attracted to muted tones. Although there is a lot of red in my decor:)

Red is my favorite color too.

i like your photography

Thank you. They are from the public domain. Although, I did enhance them:)

Red is passion Courage as you say.

It is. Thank you, cordero:)

Love this :D In a sea of material to try to absorb this caught my attention! Yes I lovvveeee Red!!!!

That's wonderful, Appreciate that:) Thank you, Bugiq:)

I know a lot of the meanings all go well over my head, but at the end of the day, I still enjoy them :)

Sometimes the meaning goes over my head...LOL. But it feels good to write them. Thank you, Paul:)

I like it... so spiritual good.
Red is my favorite color too especially Burgundy 🌺

Thank you, May. I like the red/blues too:)

She wears red, because she wants to, I think :) Such a powerful colour, with universal meanings that are grasped instinctively by everyone. And yet made so personal in this poem. The defiance in the title and end stanzas is palpable.

That red dust is still on the back of my mind by the way, I think I really will end up writing a poem in response sometime this week - the page beckons haha.

Thank you, Lazarus. Red seems to be calling you:)
