Winter Blues

Winter is numb,
For snow has come.
Darkness brings sorrow,
Longing for the morrow.

But in these blues,
It comes in twos.
Void of heat,
Energy sapped from meat.

Warmth, in sparse moments,
Thoughts return to summer.
But the cold chills to the bone,
It makes winter a bummer.

In this unrelenting cold,
We move on from days of old,
As our resources deplete,
Lost to environmental deceit.

It’s our role to concern,
Not of celebrity news we yearn,
But the loss as we burn,
And of winter blues return.
