A Poem - Cusp of Tea

Tea, the height of my glory
The climax of my salad days
The apex of my drug fueled self
Beautiful tea, like a siren it calls

Drink me!!! Get high! Go on!
More recently it has tasted of granite
But it is okay now, beautiful tea
Boil water; add a bag and a little milk
Just a drop please, I like it strong

How else am I supposed to get high?
Tap, tap, and tap my fingers go
I need more! I need a bigger fix
A thermos flask would only whet me

What I need is clarity
Not of mind but of tea
Any brand will do, preferably Darjeeling
I don’t want all the tea of China
India has more, and so I go

I will not return but I will get high
I can promise myself that
It also makes me cry the thought
Sitting in the sun, sipping tea all day

Oh God! Nothing can compare to you
I will have you, again and again
I drink until my stomach hurts and more
It is my nature and I am sorry
I cannot stop now, one more
