Birth of a Wild Woman
By Bruce Cunningham

It took more than the sunrise to awaken this Wild Woman from her sleep.
Stars both rose, and fell from the sky that day.
They do now everyday.
The earth quakes under her feet as her heart joins the One.

The trail meanders behind her as she moves forward,
stretching the skin she has outgrown.
Tender footfalls remind her that she is --all that is,
the creator and the creation.

Breaking from her shell, bindings fall as she dances
the rhythms out from her tambourine.
Her smile sparkles, teasing green from the mother,
her love gets sprinkled like water from a hose.

Relying on things others cannot see, knowing things only she can know,
she has turned away from her force fed childhood.
Old friends- smaller, more distant than before,
fade in the light of her souls emergence.

Standing at the edge she feels the ancient call.
Embracing the black abyss stretching before her,
raising her hand she is Lightning, Thunder at her side.
Feeling harmony in vibration, they leap.

Into the unexplored worlds of fire and water,
she becomes the fragrance of copal, flames dance to be like her.
And he, like water rises into the sky,
hoping to fall as her rain.
