Poetry ~ We Were Like Daisies.

in poetry •  7 years ago  (edited)

We were like daisies,
With roots that nurtured the barren earth
And pure white petals that made love to the blazing sun
Our silhouttes danced together yet alone.
And we were small… yet remarkably beautiful
To those whose souls were as deep as our own.

We were like daisies,
Waltzing through the air,
With stems that sprouted on a summer’s day,
Embracing our vibrant character and celebrating our simplicity
While we spent the entirety of the season by each other’s side.

We were like daisies,
For we both had a delicate nature about us,
And an extraordinary gift for hope,
That was undoubtedly envied
in a world filled with conflict and destitution.

And we had always been concious of this gritty reality,
We were like daisies, until the sun bid us farewell
And we were plucked from our roots to be sent on a different journey
And then we were like stardust, scattered throughout the universe.
