Distant Devotion

Gauging if the feelings are the same,
Trapped in that perpetual state,
She was the antidote for all his desirous pains,
But he thought- 'couldn't the question just wait?'

He was always sneaking in glances at that face,
Thinking of how she outmatched him in every way,
Oh how he'd never feel that soft, soft embrace,
Lost fantasy over the game of love they'd never play.

He saw her more but knew her less,
Day after day seeing her caused more distress,
Never making a move, so love kept to itself,
Left on that eternal hope she won't find anyone else.
