My Country

in poetry •  7 years ago

My country cries out
But she remains silent

My country needs help
But she says she's not hiring today

My country is in pain
But she grins and says "oh, don't be silly, I'm fine"

My country is hungry
But she's full of her children

My country's children are hungry
So they feed on her from the inside

My country groans in pain
Her children sleep soundly on satisfied stomachs

My country is in love with her children
All her children are, is hungry

My country is fearless
But still she trembled

What happens when my children consume me to the last breath
With What will they then feed

Mother would satisfy us forever
Her children say cheerfully

My country cries out for the fist time in forever
My children will end me. I would Let them if with that they will live
But in doing so they end themselves.

Now I fight my children so they will live
