Superpowers

INSERT UNSPLASH IMAGE

Ambition is the lifeblood that waters my garden of youth
Waking each morning, bright-eyed, in a never-ending dream
I have these superpowers that I am still learning how to use
Self-control, patience, emotional intelligence, esteem

I practice my abilities with intended focus
But a lack of a mentor discourages me
My progress is a snail's race and I continue to see omens
Of failure, demise, inadequacy, and empty destiny

But I press on! I’m at the effect of momentum and inertia
I ignore negative emotions like a bulldozer running a red light
Although the prospect of collisions at intersections is certain
I grit my teeth and remember that I have a red cape
