Strange symbols compose you,

guide of the old norse journeymen.

With your salute you allowed

Ragnar to come to Britain's coasts

and Eirik to the Vinland's.

Strange symbols compose you,

Vegvísir,

guide of the norse journeymen

and maker of new worlds.

Author's note:

  1. The following poem was published here on Spanish language on December 18th.
  2. According to the Spanish historian Laia San José Beltrán on her Viking-related blog The Valkyrie's Vigil, the Vegvisir is the oldest aforegoing of the modern figure of the rose wind known in History. The Vikings used it as a guide and orientation figure in their expeditions to the Orkney Islands, Iceland, England, Ireland and, also, America.
